The Here Right Matters Foundation (HRMF) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to support Ukrainian civil society in its pursuit of a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous future. Our strategic activities encompass conventional humanitarian assistance as well as programs designed to improve Ukraine’s self-defense capabilities.

HRMF was founded and is led by former U.S. military and policy leaders committed to aiding Ukraine’s fight for freedom and democracy.

The Foundation maintains strong relationships with key policymakers, military commanders, and civil society stakeholders in Kyiv and Washington. Our team has spent decades working on Ukraine-related issues at the highest levels of the U.S. government, including the White House National Security Council.

In 2023, successfully planned and executed cross-border delivery of a humanitarian aid package worth more than $3.5 million

Training 14,000 Ukrainian medics to U.S. standards in order to save thousands of lives and tens of thousands of limbs

Dr. Alexander Vindman

Dr. Alexander Vindman

Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired)

Dr. Alexander Vindman, a national security expert and committed public servant, has held influential roles including director for European Affairs on the White House’s National Security Council and Political-Military Affairs Officer for Russia for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a decorated veteran, earning two Legions of Merit and the Purple Heart for his service. With advanced degrees from Harvard University and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Dr. Vindman is currently a senior fellow at SAIS's Foreign Policy Institute and leads the Institute for Informed American Leadership. He is frequently called upon by major media outlets for his insights and maintains a strong commitment to transatlantic security and democracy, with a particular focus on Ukraine.

Colonel (Former), U.S. Army (Retired)

Eugene Vindman is a distinguished retired U.S. military officer, human rights lawyer, international law expert and advocate for democratic principles. With degrees in history, law, and management, he served in various roles, specializing in military law, government ethics, criminal justice, and national security. Notably, he worked at the National Security Council, focusing on ethics, NATO, International Criminal law, and human rights. Vindman retired to become the Director of Military Analysis.

Mark Arnold

Mark Arnold

Brigadier General, U.S. Army (Retired)

Brigadier General Arnold boasts a 37-year military career, including combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq in special operations task forces. He held key leadership roles, such as Battalion and Brigade Commander and Commanding General of the 100th Division. He has degrees in engineering, business, and strategic studies. Beyond his military service, Arnold excelled in the corporate world, leading companies like GSE Lining Technologies to substantial growth and an IPO on the NYSE. He has received numerous awards, both military and civilian, and remains a leader in several non-profit organizations.
